Rs.5CR WORTH SPECIAL ATTIRE DONATED TO GODDESS PADMAVATHI
Tirumala, Nov 17, 2012 (P.R.O): For Goddess Padmavathi Devi, the presiding deity of Tiruchanoor, this will be a special birthday on Panchami which falls on Sunday, November 18 as she has received costliest donation ever made in the temple history in the form of Rs.5cr worth specially designed precious stones studded gold garment.
Sri Cheukuri Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of Transstroy India Private Limited, Hyderabad offered this largesse to the Goddess on Saturday evening.
Describing the donation as the “Mightiest” ever in the history of temple, the TTD EO complimented the donor for his grand offering. He said this precious gift will be adorned to Goddess on her Birth Day on Panchami. “We have learnt that the attire approximately weighs about 9.6kilos and costs about 4.33crores. This specially designed attire was prepared by expert artisans in Mumbai which took them almost four months to carve out this to finesse. The diamonds and precious stones including rubies, emaralds, pearls studded in this garment weigh about 70carats and give a attractive look to the attire”, he added.
Meanwhile the donor Sri Sridhar termed it as a previlege offered to him by Goddess Padmavathi Devi to do such an offering. “I whole-heartedly pray the Goddess for providing me this golden opportunity”, he added.
Earlier a celestial procession of the speciallly designed golden garment started from Pasupumandapam to Tiruchanoor temple. Later the garment was placed at the feet of the presiding deity and pujas were performed.
Guntur MP Sri Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Tirupati JEO Sri P Venkatrami Reddy, CVSO Sri GVG Ashok Kumar, temple Deputy EO Sri Gopala Krishna, AEO Sri Venugopal and others were also present.
