IVth of Kartheeka Brahmotsavam- HANUMANTHA VAHANAM
Tiruchanur, Nov 13, 2012 (P.R.O): On Tuesday evening, the processional deity of Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi was taken on a celestial ride on the most revered servants of Lord Sri Rama, the Hanumantha Vahana, to show the importance of “Sharanagathi”-total surrender before Lord to the tens of thousands of pilgrims.
According to mythology, Lord Hanuman is an ardent devotee of Lord Sri Rama who is an incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu in Tretayuga. Lord Venkateswara is none other than yet another incarnations of Lord Sri Maha Vishnu in Kaliyuga. Then it becomes a undisputed fact that Lord Hanuman is also a disciplined devotee of Lord Venkateswara. To show his reverence towards Lord of Lords in Kaliyuga, he carries the lord in four mada streets on Hanumantha Vahana during Lord’s annual Brahmotsavam at Tirumala. Goddess Padmavathi being the better half and an incarnation of Goddess Sita Devi, the consort of Lord Sri Rama, as a mark of respect towards the divine mother, Lord Hanuman carried the Goddess on a pleasure ride on his back in the Hanumantha Vahanam on Fourth Day evening.
The uniqueness about this vahanam from others is while other vahanams bless the devotees with wisdom and wealth, the Hanumantha Vahanam sends a clear message to devotees about the selfless service to the almighty and total surrenderence before the divine power.
