PROCESSION OF GARUDA VAHANAM

Tirumala, Aug 31, 2012 (P.R.O) As a part of gearing up for the upcoming annual Salakatla Brahmotsavams which are scheduled for September 18, TTD will be conducted a trial-run of Brahmotsava Garuda Seva on the occasion of Pournami Garuda Seva.

Among 450 odd festivals which are being performed in the temple town of Tirumala every year, the annual mega festival of brahmotsavams are very important. In this nine-day mega religious event, Garuda Seva which falls on fifth-day is considered to be most important as the processional deity of Lord Malayappa Swamy takes a pleasure ride on His favourite vehicle “Garuda”. Usually on this day, lakhs of pilgrims throng Tirumala to witness the grandeur of Lord.

It is a customary in TTD to organise a mock drill of Garuda Seva on the preceding Pournami of Brahmotsava Garuda Seva. This trial-run Garuda Seva is almost similar to the original brahmotsava Garuda Seva with high profile security arrangements, with various dance troupes exhibiting their traditional and classical dance skills, bhajan mandals, students in the guise of various mythological characters etc.
Later TTD Chairman Sri K.Bapi Raju released Sri Vari Annual Brahmotsavam special programme book let in front of Garuda Vahanam.

His Excellency Iqbal Singh, Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Sri L.V.Subramanyam, Executive Officer, Sri K.S.Srinivasa Raju, Joint Executive Officer, Sri Ashok Kumar, C.V&S.O, Sri Munirathanam Reddy, DyEO and others took part.
