Tirumala, 10 July 2012 (P.R.O) :Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam’ was performed on Tuesday at the hill temple of Lord Venkateswara amidst religious fervour. The festival was performed as a prelude to the annual ‘Ani Vara Asthanam’ scheduled for July 16.
Employees took part in the mass cleansing temple festival which lasted from 6am to 10am. A paste of sandalwood powder mixed with refined camphor and other ingredients were applied to the walls and pillars inside the sanctum sanctorum including all the sub-temples inside the temple complex. Besides, the vessels, massive lamps etc. have also been cleansed.
Later the sarva dashan assumed after 11am. While the cleansing process was underway, the statues including the moolvirat of Lord Venkateswara, Yoganarasimha Swamy, Varadaraja Swamy etc. have been completely closed with white cloth. After the Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam ritual is over, the clothes have been removed and Sarva Darshan commenced.
Meanwhile Honourable AP Revenue Minister Sri N Raghuveera Reddy and BC Committee Chairman Sri Tippeswamy also took part in this festival. TTD EO Sri LV Subramanyam, JEO Sri KS Srinivasa Raju and other temple officials were also present.
Following this festival, TTD has cancelled Asta Dala Pada Padmaradhana seva in Sri Vari Temple on Tuesday.
