TTD TO PERFORM KAREERI ISTHI YAGAM FROM JUNE 22 TO 26
TIRUMALA, JUNE 8: The temple administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has been making elaborate arrangements to perform “Kareeri Isthi Yagam” from June 22 to June 26 in Tirumala to appease the Rain God for good rains for the prosperity of the State and the Country.
TTD has been performing this Yagam since 2005 to invoke the blessings of Lord Varuna. This five-day ritual will take place in Gogarbham Teertham near Paruveta Mandapam in the abode of Lord Venkateswara and will be performed every day between 8am to 12pm.
The significance of this ritual is that this has been in vogue since vedic age wherein the sages or ritwiks used to perform with utmost devotion. The uniqueness of this ritual is that every item used will be in “Krishna Varna”(black colour) including the dressing of Ritwiks performing Yaga. The rice cooked in bamboo, the horse and ram and every material will be black in colour as the Homa invokes black clouds to shower good rains.
A team comprising of Veda Parayanamdars including Sri U Kasipathi Somayaji, Sri V Subrahmanyam, OSD Sri P Seshadri, Bokkasam clerk Sri B R Gururaja Rao under the able guidance of TTD Agama Advisor Sri N A K Sundaravaradan will perform the Yagam with the help of 20 vedic experts hailing from across the country. TTD top brass officials will take part in this Yagam.
