Lord’s Kalyanams all over globe mooted
Tirupati , March 02 :
“To propagate bhakti among people, the TTD will organise Srinivasa Kalyanams not only in important cities of the country but also across the globe,” said Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) executive officer L.V. Subrahmanyam.
Interacting with devotees at the “Dial Your EO” programme at Tirumala, the TTD EO said that over two lakh people witnessed Srinivasa Kalyanam held at Kathmandu in Nepal on February 25.
“The head of the country and the ambassador were impressed with the celestial marriage and asked us to perform it every year.
They said that they were following the darshan and queue line mechanisms adopted by the TTD in their Pasupathinath temple.
They also requested us to give suggestions to set up a kalyanamandapam and Veda Pathashala in their country,” the EO said.
Mr Subrahmanyam said that the TTD was mulling Srinivasa Kalyanams in USA.
“We will send a team of officers soon to America to list places to perform these celestial marriages.
In recent times, several foreigners have been visiting Tirumala and praying in the temple.
Very recently we had devotees from Japan, Italy and Russia who also asked the TTD to organise SrinivasaKalyanams in their country,” the EO maintained.
The EO said that pilgrim influx to Tirumala has been increasing manifold every year.
“The TTD can facilitate good and satisfactory darshan to pilgrims only if the number does not exceed 40,000-50,000 on any given day.
But if the influx crosses 60,000, it is difficult for the TTD to do so.
We have to restrict pilgrim numbers to 50,000, as in the Vaishno Devi temple, but whether people will accept this system for the TTD is a million dollar question,” he added.
