Heavy pilgrim rush at Tirumala

The four-day vacation mood with Varalakshmi Vratham on Friday till Independence Day on Monday, the hilltop temple town of Tirumala is flooded with multitudes of devotees, unleashing a mad rush for accommodation and darshan.
By Saturday night, all the compartments of the Vaikuntam queue complex were full, taking nearly 14 hours for general darshan and six hours for the Rs300 special entrance ticket holders.
With accommodation coming to a staggering point, devotees were seen spread into parks and lawns. Pilgrims were stranded in long queue lines for tonsuring.
By Saturday night, ail the compartments of the Vaikuntam queue complex were full, taking nearly 14 hours for general darshan.
The rush is expected to continue till Wednesday. The officials expect that the temple hundi income during the vacation time would cross 12crore.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) public relations officer, Mr T. Ravi, said that the VIP darshans, except the protocol procedures, are cancelled till Wednesday, in view of the heavy influx of the devotees.
